Osprey Levity 60L (The Trek)

FYI – Finding the right backpack is super important. Youl need to spend some time researching packs, and this article will help.

Summary

• Osprey Levity / Lumina 60L ($270, 1 lb 13.3 oz) or Osprey Levity / Lumina 45L ($250, 1 lb 12.2 oz)
• The tester liked the fit and feel of the pack. “I can confidently say this is one of the most comfortable packs I’ve ever worn.”
• They didn’t like the side pockets, but they use a large diameter size water bottle than probably most people, which made it difficult to get in and out.
• The tester didn’t like the top lid compartment.
• They noted the lack of chest and hip belt pockets. FYI – This is a big drawback for us. We use those pockets all the time for snacks, water bottles, phone, camera, etc.
• The tester noted that the silnylon material which makes up the main compartment felt delicate.
• Even after all those knocks against it, the tester still rated it 8 out of 10 overall.

They gave several other backpack options, which included less expensive or lighter packs. This will help you with your research.

• Granite Gear’s Crown V.C. 60 (60L, $199, 2lb 4oz)
• ULA’s Ohm 2.0 (63L, $210, 2lb 2.5 oz)
• Osprey’s Exos 58 (58L, $220, 2lb 10oz) – FYI – We have this exact pack. We have used it many times and can definitively say that it is excellent.
• ZPacks Arc Blast (55L, $325, 1lb 5 oz)
• Mountain Laurel Designs Exodus 57 (57L, $270, 15 oz)

 
Things to note because they might not apply to you.

• The field test was done during winter in the northern USA. A lot of people just don’t want to camp during the winter, particularly if there is snow on the ground.
• The tester was carrying only 25 pounds, less than the maximum 30 for this pack. Some people will find it hard to achieve this weight, especially during winter.
